ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 2nd-1st centuries BC. AR tetradrachm (26mm, 16.55 gm, 11h). NGC Fine 4/5 – 2/5, graffiti. New Style coinage, ca. 125/4 BC, 9th month, Polemon, Alcetes, and Aris-, magistrates. Head of Athena right wearing triple-crested Attic helmet, ornamented with leaping Pegasus above upturned cheek flap, vine scroll on bowl, protomes of four horses on visor / A-ΘE / ΠOΛE-MΩN / AΛKE-THΣ / ΑΡΙΣ, owl standing facing on overturned amphora engraved with Θ (month); tripod in left field, ΣΩ (engraver) below, all within olive wreath.
