THEODOSIUS II, A.D. 402-450. AV Solidus (4.41 gms), Constantinople Mint, ca. A.D. 441-450. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 3/5 Surface: 2/5. Adjusted Flan, Brushed, Edge Bend, Graffito.
RIC-293; Depeyrot-84/1. Obverse: Pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear over shoulder and shield decorated with horseman motif; Reverse: Constantinopolis seated left on throne, with foot on prow, holding globus cruciger and scepter; star to left. Fairly crisp and appealing, with a graffito on the obverse field and somewhat broad flan.
