**Historical Context:**
Hidrieus, one of the notable Carian satraps of the Hecatomnid dynasty, ruled from around 351 to 344 BC. The Hecatomnid dynasty was established by Hecatomnus in the early 4th century BC and is known for its influential coinage. Hidrieus continued this tradition, featuring significant figures from Carian culture on his coins. The reverse of this tetradrachm showcases Zeus Labraundus, a deity worshipped at the temple of Labraunda. The statue of Zeus holding a lotus-tipped scepter and bipennis symbolizes the religious and cultural heritage of Caria during Hidrieus’ reign.
