Alexius I Comnenus (AD 1081-1118). AV hyperpyron (31mm, 4.35 gm, 6h). NGC Choice XF 5/5 – 2/5, edge crimps, graffito, scratches. Constantinople. Post-reform coinage (ca.192-1118). + KЄ RO-HΘЄI, Christ seated facing on backless throne, wearing nimbus cruciger, pallium and colobium, raising right hand in benediction, book of Gospels in left hand; IC-XC across fields, all in double-border / A-ΛE-ZIw-ΔEC-ΠO-TH-TΩ-KO-MNH-Nw (MNH ligate), Alexius I standing facing, wearing crown, divitision and jeweled chlamys with six greatly exaggerated jewels, labarum in right hand, globus cruciger in left, hand of God at right near head; all in double-border.
